My brief opinion on this matter is: I slightly prefer the first (old) method, since a) these are "special" methods, and it's acceptable they are treated differently than the "ordinary" ones. b) the ability to call them statically is a plus. ATM I haven't any real-word examples in mind, but this doesn't mean that there aren't any of them :-) This said, the decision should be up to you only, you know your class better than anyone else, so I'm sure you'll make the right decision. PS: even if I haven't expressed any opinions on the 2.0 version, but I'm all for it, if it will take to a simpler internal management. Hope to see something soon :-)
