Great input guys. Ok, so I will abstract out the methods of the SpellChecker so that different backend spellchecking systems can be used. This completely makes sense and I'm a bit embarrassed I hadn't thought of that myself. Support for windows would be nice too so further suggestions on making that work with the least amount of pain for them would be appreciated.
