Hi,
browsing the package-directory for Net_IPv4 I came across Net_CheckIP
for "validating IPv4-adresses". Normally it should go under Validate
(function validateIP) or you could use Net_IPv4 which also has a
validate-function. What do you guys say about that?
Well, I agree we can't remove Net_CheckIP since some scripts might
use / rely on it. But how about adding a note "deprecated. use
Validate-package." or "deprecated. use Net_IPv4-package." to the
description? Is there maybe a way to disable showing it in the pear-
webinterface so it's still downloadable if scripts directly rely on
it? Or can we say scripts that depend on it work on systems that have
the class installed. And for other systems only slight modifications
need to be done to the scripts?
Not an easy problem. How to do it right? One way would be "leave it
as is" - but maybe that's a point which makes the "well-structured
directory" a bit further unstructured.
Are there other packages with similar problems / conflicts?
Just my thoughts - please comment.
Stefan
