I did not follow the complete thread, so I'm not sure if this has been
mentioned, but what about:
/usr/share/pear/v2/PACKAGE/File.php
Otherwise you'll run into Problems when classes like XML_Parser change
to a new major version. Furthermore you just would have to change the
pear install dir, depending on the major version number.
I'm not familiar with all aspects of the Installer, so don't hit me if
I'm totally wrong.
