I have a working pear revert command here at home, I won't post the patch because I'd like to work out some code dealing with subpackages first, but I wanted to get some feedback on the choices I made for the command format. [snip]
This command is extremely useful for testing a release, and quickly reverting to a known working release.I think that this, paired with a "pear patch" feature, would be really useful. Targeted for developers (you wouldn't use it for package upgrades, just testing between releases), you'd be able to apply changes quickly, then revert back to a working package if it messes things up. Of course, you could always have whoever made the patch update package.xml, repackage everything and upload the .tgz, but that's not quite as easy for minor changes that don't constitute a whole release by themselves. -- Marshall Roch
