Yeah, but like you said, what if the different sources are in different formats? If the driver you need for exchange rates uses XML_Tree, you shouldn't be forced to install DB and File (for CSV), which are needed by other drivers that also processes exchange rates. I suppose you could make them optional dependencies, but it wouldn't be as easy to switch formats, since you'd have to look up which dependency goes with which drivers. Also, you said "usually necessary." The type of subpackages I'm referring to are what Greg is proposing, and don't exist yet. In this case, I think they make sense, since you can't use the driver without the main package, but don't need all of the drivers and their dependencies. If you were to use subpackages to split up a big package into smaller ones that are *all* required, then they don't make sense. -- Marshall Roch
