Greetings:
Problems arise when running DB under PHP 5*. Several files have
methods that return by reference, but the returns in those methods don't
return to variables. When this happens, errors, such as the following,
happen:
Fatal error: Only variables or references can be returned by reference
in c:\progra~1\pear\pear\DB\common.php on line 766
I have made a patch to address this issue:
http://www.analysisandsolutions.com/pear/DB.references.diff
Where returned items are not already variables, I assigned the items to
variables, then returned the variable.
