Hi Stephan,
1) The package hasn't been removed, just the only beta release
avaible.
2) Our policy is to get only High Quality code into the repository. A
class called Net_Server (supposed to be the main class for many people
to build PHP servers) that can only serve sequentially petitions and
any client can easily hang the server, doesn't not fit into that
purpose.
3) You told me that you weren't able to add forking capabilities to
the class, quoting you (pear-dev August 27, 2003 14:58): " I'm not sure if I will
be able to work on both, but maybe someone in the list has experience with
forking processes."
4) I was the only one complained, because perhaps I was the
only one who freed up his time to actually do a deep review of your
code.
After consulting all this points with the Group, I commited the decision of
"halting" the distribution of the class as it was. The "package space"
was not dropped neither you as lead developer.
I'm very sorry about this decision, but remember that a flame on just one class, usually
becomes in a flame to
the whole PEAR proyect. The problem was in the "package proposal"
step, not really in your class.
I'll be happy to see a modified version of the class.
