Of course, existing installations would have to be moved, which might be a real problem.
Would it be possible to make the existing data directory the docroot of a new virtual host? Then, existing installations would continue working fine, and you'd be able to access the web stuff through a new port number, or something. Of course, you would still be able to put it in a web-accessible directory, as you can already, if you couldn't get a new virtual host (shared hosting?). -- Marshall Roch
