Jani Taskinen (sniper@php.net) proposed a new versioning scheme
for PHP, its extensions and for PEAR on php-dev. I don't know when
this scheme will be applied in PHP, but it will IMO surely come.
So your script is fine for the moment and we should really use it,
but you should be prepared to modify it when the new versioning
scheme appears.
