I'm sorry too. I didn't found a solution for this too.
I'm using this for now:
1 - I create a folder called Pager inside a include path.
2 - Put my extending class inside it wih the name Pager_Myslide.php
3 - use now mode option as 'myslide'
4 - All works fine!
I want to keep follow the progress of PEAR packages.

Well, of course if you only use one "mode", you can extend
only the one you need. Or keep using the last v.1.x release...
Sorry, but I couldn't find any other solution to merge
the two classes and keep BC...
