One of they key for the success of the open source is to follow
standars, so that could be a reason for saying "no". In the other
side, integration with multiple platforms and software apps, is one
reasons for saying "yes" :-). I'd say if you want to complicate your
life, set a "strict" flag in your class, if not, just support as many
cases as possible.
