Hi, I'd like to call for a vote on Games_Chess. Since 4 people took the opportunity to vote already, I guess the comments period is going to be abbreviated :). I won't be doing an initial release right away, if it is approved, to allow other comments and suggestions to filter in. Also, if any of you would like to join in as developers/maintainers, that would be fine by me. I fixed 2 bugs noticed by Johannes Schleuter (thanks!) and added unit tests to find them. I haven't fixed the example to work in mozilla, as it's just an example. I would be happy to add in a patch that makes it work in mozilla if anyone knows a quick fix. Here's the description from the package proposal email: Games_Chess is a fully functional chessboard simulator. It has full "knowledge" of all the rules of chess, and can calculate - checkmate - stalemate - 50 move draw - draw by repetition as well as parse a FEN (Farnsworth-Edwards Notation) string describing a chessboard position, and any SAN (Standard Algebraic Notation) string describing a chess move. It can also perform a chess move based on the starting and ending squares. The package has several uses including the obvious ones: - playing chess against other people through a visual interface program such as the one at chess.chiaraquartet.net - validation of a series of chess moves It is fully unit-tested, and has all the tests included with the package. To take full advantage of the package, prior to installation, run these two changes to your configuration: $ pear config-set data_dir /path/to/doc_root/pear $ pear config-set tests_dir /path/to/doc_root/pear/tests after doing this, you can browse to the HTML example at http://localhost/pear/Games_Chess/examples/HTMLChess.php, and to the unit tests at http://localhost/pear/tests/Games_Chess/tests/testsuite.php Source code is viewable at: http://chess.chiaraquartet.net/docs/__filesource/fsource_Games_Chess__Chess.php.html http://chess.chiaraquartet.net/docs/__filesource/fsource_Games_Chess__ChessStandard.php.html Package can be installed via: pear install http://chess.chiaraquartet.net/Games_Chess-0.2.tgz API Documentation at: http://chess.chiaraquartet.net/docs Online demo of HTML chess-playing program based on Games_Chess at: http://chess.chiaraquartet.net Regards, Greg
