Out of interest how abstracted is the XML parser from the generator.. - I've been toying with a C Parser
http://devel.akbkhome.com/svn/index.php/akpear/C_Parser/Parser/
(it doesnt work yet..)
and it strikes me it would be alot easier to declare the code in C..
real ex_sqr (real p1, string s1) {
return p1*p1;
}
real ex_avg (real e) {
int count =0;
double sum_e=0.0;
.....
}

UDF_Gen is a C code generator based on the PECL_Gen package that generates ready-to-compile MySQL User Defined Function (UDF) extensions from an XML description with embedded code snippets a first draft is available at http://www.zugeschaut-und-mitgebaut.de/php/UDF_Gen-0.1.0.tgz a small example creating two simple functions is available as http://www.zugeschaut-und-mitgebaut.de/php/example.xml a more complete example implementing some of the Oracle SQL functions missing in MySQL is available as http://www.zugeschaut-und-mitgebaut.de/php/ora_funcs.xml this example also requires http://www.zugeschaut-und-mitgebaut.de/php/oracle_date.l UDF_Gen requires PECL_Gen version 0.8.1 (released today) and GNU autoconf, automake and libtool right now UDF_Gen uses a lot of functionality from PECL_Gen, in the long run these generic C code generation functionality should IMHO be moved to a seperate CodeGenerator_C package within PEAR the names UDF_Gen and CodeGenerator_C are quick shots for now, any suggestions for better names are highly appreciated-- Can you help out?
