I'm thinking about renaming the package into PHP::Forking_Thread, so
it should be clever than no real threading is done, but only an
emulation thru the forking system call.
This sounds good. - +1 here when you want to call a vote.
However I still use this class for some of my customers, I've
implemented a NNTP binary grabber as backend for a big usenet
provider; this application make use of threadClass.php, scan about
200 binary newsgroups, search them for images, download and
categorize them.
This sounds even better.. - how about calling it Net_Porn :) - as
someone said - "finally something useful in pear" ;)

All using a standalone PHP server running 8-10
parallel "Threads". This provider was previously using a Win32 app
(NewsBin) under wine; my PHP server uses 1/10 of system resources,
runs faster and ensure reliability to the back-end (and so to the
website). I think too much PHP developers only use the web SAPI,
while the CLI is an excellent programming environment; by using this
class, parallel execution server can be easily written in PHP.
