This is at the bottom of DB_DataObject.php . In my opinion this should be better pointed out, somewhere at the top of the file or so.. It took me 4 hours of testing/development/browsing mailing list archives to find out the reason why my script is broken after uploading it to the production server (linux, php 4.3.3). This problem never occured during development in windows, php 4.3.3 - the same.
// technially 4.3.2RC1 was broken!!
// looks like 4.3.3 may have problems too....
if ((phpversion() != '4.3.2-RC1') && (version_compare( phpversion(), "4.3.1") > 0)) {
overload('DB_DataObject');
$GLOBALS['_DB_DATAOBJECT']['OVERLOADED'] = true;
}
Anyways, I love this package :)

Can you try A) without the zend optimizer B) comment out the overload bit at the bottom of dataobjects. See if this makes any difference.
