Hi, I'd like to propose my ProcWatch package now, though I'm not sure
with the name, perhaps it would fit better into "Tools and Utilities".
Description
===========
With this package you can monitor running processes based upon an XML
configuration file, where you define patterns, conditions and actions.
The output of
ps aux is used, so you can base your patterns in the
config file on these common columns/fields. Besides that you can
specify the command line arguments to 'ps'.
It can be run through cron resp. manually or as kinda "daemon", with a
defined interval to sleep.
You can for instance check for memory consumption of all httpds, or if
a specific process is run by a specific user - and so on...
This package now includes a shell script named "procwatch", for using
this package directly. Example:
$ procwatch -c conf.xml --daemon --interval 3600 &
