I'm actually developing with PHP_Fork an ambitious project called phplet; it's the PHP version of tomcat since it works at the same way, implementing a persistent container that runs php applications named phplet. A phplet is like a servlet, it has init(), destroy(), service() methods and already lives into the container; this have the same advantages as Java servlets but it's PHP! The project is located at https://sourceforge.net/projects/phplet . As you can see, this is not a good example of usage for PHP_Fork because most people can find difficult the concepts behind the application; I don't think people is interested into Application Server internals, overall there's a lot of stuff mixed into the project (http server, container, classloader, run-time processor, etc) because all this suff is needed to build an Application Server... At this moment I've no time to start other projects, but in the future a multiprocess chat server with a Flash front-end can be a good replacement for Volano chat and others actually coded in Java..
