For your information:
I already mailed "Sebastian Delmont" (the author of the JPEG-class)
if it's okay with him if I propose the EXIF-part of his class as a
new package to PEAR. We'll see ... Meanwhile I used his code,
stripped of the IPTC-handling-parts, unified it a bit and implemented
an API similar to Image_IPTC, which makes sense in my eyes.
The code is already ready but hasn't gone through any testing yet :-)
I'll wait for Sebastian to hopefully respond soon and if he agrees
I'll propose the class to this list next week.
