I think it is a bit weird that there were no comments at all on this
proposal for ten days and as soon as voting starting people start making

Oh, well.
Of course the scope of the package can be expanded, I already said that
I was thinking about console output, for instance. At the moment the
package implements the minimum functionality needed to be usable by
PHPUnit.
Following the XP principle of implementing functionality "when it is
needed" I wrote no code for exchangable backends as there is currently
only one.
In regard to the "Way to change HTML output." point you raised I can
only say that this is not needed IMHO since the HTML generated can be
perfectly "themed" using CSS.
