changelogs and descriptions automatic?

Hi Folks: Are a package's changelogs on the website automatically generated from the <notes> element of the package.xml file? Similarly, does the description on a package's home page automatically come from the <description> element? If this is the case, can someone please update the script that does this so it doesn't put in <br>'s if the line starts with "*"? This will avoid weird line wrapping on pages such as http://pear.php.net/package/DB If you don't see the wrapping I'm talking about, use your browser's text zoom option and you will.
