A release will never be removed, that's a fact.
I mean except just after the release process (ie bad package for some
weird reasons).
The only possible solution for now is to add a comment to the package
description, aka "This package is deprecated. Use foobar instead.",
links to migration tutorials welcome (as noticed earlier).
Soon or later, we have to add some kind of status for a package (ie
'deprecated' and 'orphaned').
For discussions about the status or related topic, pear-qa is the right
place. Once we got something out of the discussions, let post it on
peardev
