This email is the official announcement of PEPr, the new automatic proposal handling system for PEAR. It lives at http://pear.php.net/pepr/ . PEPr will from now on be officially used for every package proposal. To propose a new package, the following steps are neccessary: 1. Apply for a PEAR website account, if you don't have one yet. [1] 2. Create a new proposal [0]. The proposal is initially a "draft" so you can look at its layout and stuff, before you officially propose. Please make sure that you have attached enough documentation (sources, examples, API documentation,...) to your proposal. 3. Move the created proposal to status "proposal" and let it be discussed on the developers mailing list. This phase has a minumum length of 1 week. After that you are free to call for votes, if all issues on your proposal have been taken care of. 4. Call for votes for your proposal. The stage "call for votes" lasts minimum 7 days. If there are at least 5 votes registered, your proposal will be accepted or rejected after that. If the vote count is too small, your call for votes will be extended for another 7 days. After that your proposal will be finished, no matter how many votes have been given. 5. If your proposal has been accepted, drop an informal mail to the PEAR Group [2] asking for acceptance for the proposal. You can then register your package. Kudos for setting up PEPr goes to Tobias Schlitt [3], who has become an official member of the PEAR website team recently. Please direct questions concerning the usage of PEPr to the developers mailing list [4]. Technical issues should be posted to the webmasters mailing list [5].
