Hi Stefan,
Thanks for your reply. I have had a look at the Net_IMAP package and this package uses sockets to
connect to an IMAP server, instead of the c-client extension.. which is what my proposed package
focuses on. I'm not sure if you are familiar with that extension, but its name can be
misleading, as it can be used to connect to POP3 and NNTP mailboxes as well as IMAP. I can't
speak for others, but I've spent a great deal of time learning the ins and outs of the c-client
library, which provides a slightly faster interface to a mail server (or so I've been told
anyway). Well regardless of that, my proposal is a solution for those programmers that are seeking
to make use of the c-client extension. Which is pretty complex in and of itself and takes a great
deal of time to learn if you've never encountered it before. Personally I've spent months
on it with little or no documentation to work with. I would propose my package be added to the Mail
category with the other packages
that address similar MIME issues.
A Savvy programmer could combine the Net_IMAP solution with mine and create a webmail program that
will work with c-client when it is present and with socket connections when it isn't.
Dynamically adjusting to the server enviornment.

Richard York
Hi Richard,
please excuse, I didn't have time to go through all the details you mentioned.
But have you had a look at Net_IMAP and how your feature-ideas could maybe be
integrated into it? I'm almost certain most people on this list will agree that
we should try to avoid another IMAP-class if possible. Maybe write Damian (the
lead of Net_IMAP) a private email explaining in short (!) your ideas and how
they might be incorporated into the current package.
Regards,
Stefan
