this is not a documentation problem, but a problem with your version of
the PEAR installer, which is out of date. To fix it, type
pear upgrade Console_Getopt PEAR Archive_Tar
and then try pear install sqlite.
sqlite is a pecl package.

On the SQLite page: http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.sqlite.php
It states to install SQLite just type:
pear install sqlite
This fails: No releases found for package 'sqlite'
I looked on pear.php.net and no instance of sqlite exists. There is no
additional documentation on how to install sqlite with PHP that I can
find.
Reproduce code:
---------------
pear install sqlite on command line
Expected result:
----------------
It should install SQLite for PHP.
It doesn't.
