Hi,
Disclaimer: I am writing this email as a member of and not as the pear-qa team.
I would like to point everybody to the manual for a good piece of information when you want to make a release:
http://pear.php.net/manual/en/developers.release.php
I would also like to point people to pear-group site for a set of regulations that also should be taken into account:
http://pear.php.net/group/
For those people who think that the group stuff should be integrated into the manual: have a go at the peardoc manual (note: somethings have made their way into the manual already).
For the version naming regulation I guess I hereby call it suspended on all points except the releasling of stable versions below 1.0.0 remains a no-no.
Please also note that the pear-qa team will remove releases that dont follow our regulations and have severe implications for the users (like a messed up install dir). For all other cases we will wait a day or two after having informed the developer before taking such drastic actions. However please note that we, the qa team have better things to do than clean up screwed up releases. We are there for assistance, in case you need them, however. However so far noone seems to take us up on the offer.
And sorry I am a bit miffed, after too many issues with releases in the past few days.
regards,
Lukas Smith
