Hi,
http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=964
This bug in the PEAR package describes a problem with attempted forward compatibility - PEAR_ERROR_EXCEPTION can't work unless PEAR_Error doesn't extend PEAR, which would break all kinds of BC.
I'd like to fix this bug by simply removing PEAR_ERROR_EXCEPTION, especially since PEAR_ErrorStack now exists and will be in the next release of PEAR.
Before I do this, I'd like to make sure everyone knows about it. PEAR_ERROR_EXCEPTION is completely obsolete, and will only cause fatal errors if you use it. I'll leave the define so that E_NOTICE still works, but it won't do anything.
