This has been discussed before, and we decided not to "take that
burden" since there are already "enough" licenses outline, so we only
need to find one that fits best. This can be handled by a dev within
the announced range of licenses.
As I understand the situation, the PHP-license has been the "main"
PEAR-license for quite a while now - and it's far less restrictive
than e.g. LGPL. But there are several things I already outlined in a
previous thread about licensing that make the PHP-license not fit
well for php-source-code packages. I was asked to wait for the new
PHP-license which will be based upon the next (now: current) Apache-
license. So, does anybody know about the progress made in "clearing
up" the PHP-license? Is there maybe already a draft?
