Yes, that is what I meant. If you are re-implementing/porting some known
algorithms for the methods, it will be good to reference them. I mentioned the
URL from mathworld because they have pages with details on each method there
including Ridder's and Brent's (among others). The "Numeric Recipes in C" book
also has the math details.

Just make sure that doing very complex math in PHP might not be as efficient as
doing it in C, with that in mind you can pick some useful methods that work for
most cases, and avoid the ones created to deal with the pathological cases
which usually require some more complicated treatment.
