Just personal experience, but so far I've always had it work out of the box on debian, gentoo, freebsd installs. If one doesn't need gettext and is not present, it is overcome in a simple way just by putting somewhere: if (!function_exists('_')) { function _($s) { return $s; } } > One of the main big projects I did a while ago, used a Simple PHP > NET_SMS solution on an embedded box (connected to a vending machine and > wireless modem, to dial in sales data) - and I can tell you for sure, > that didnt need/have gettext :) Ok, point taken. I didn't consider dumb installs. So far I have this running only in installs where users are the ones interacting with the SMS gateways. So with things like sending out bulk messages, credits, delivery reports etc, messages end up essential. > From my reading of PEAR_ErrorStack, it has support for error messages > with arguments (which where designed for translating AFAIK), - it may be > worth thinking about using that instead of PEAR_Error. Don't know it, I'll look into it. Thanks, Marko
