we're testing out a new spam protection mechanism for the php lists, and
stig volunteered pear-dev as the guinea pig.
if you post to the list with an SMTP envelope sender that is different
from how you are subscribed to the list (or you aren't subscribed to the
list because you use the newsgroup), you'll be sent a message that you
have to reply to in order to confirm that you're a real person. you'll
only have to do that once (for all PHP mailing lists).
let me know if you find yourself unable to post to the list because of
this. there are undoubtedly a kink or two to be worked out of the
system, which is why we're giving it a trial run here instead of on
php-general.
