Will this satisfy your condition? "I, Paul M. Let me know if that's what you mean. :-)
I mean "Paul will work with Alan to build a savant that is extended to create flexy" the common template engine should be savant-like, not a base for savant
I can agree to that easily, if (1) Savant is accepted into PEAR the way it is now (so that it is actually in PEAR and thus gains a footing equal to the current template systems), and (2) Alan is willing to collaborate. Then I can rework the accepted alpha of HTML_Template_Savant into something that can be extended to make a Flexy. This depends on Alan's acceptance of the idea; obviously I can't speak for him. Personally, I would bet he won't like the idea of re-doing Flexy in any manner at all, and I can sympathize with that very well; I know that I would not like doing that kind of thing for one of my own PEAR packages in deference to an as-yet unaccepted package except in very clear cases of advantage to all. I think this is such a case, but then, I'm the supplicant, not the throne. ;-) If Alan is *not* willing to work on Flexy as an extension of Savant, or rework Flexy as an extension of a common base that includes something like Savant, does that change your condition? -- Paul M.
