Hans Lellelid (http://pear.php.net/user/hlellelid) has commented on the proposal for Database::DB_Model. Comment: Looks very useful for DB_DataObject & MDB2. You may want to consider adding support for default values & scale to columns. How do you plan to handle datatype abstraction? I assume it's gonna matter when you want to go the other direction (i.e. create RDBMS-specific DDL from generic schema).
