Hey,
I'm currently trying to take Services_Google through PEPr, and seem to
keep coming up against the "do a PHP4 version" argument.
Since this thread is likely to get rapidly away from the topic, I'm
not doing this mail from PEPr, where the thread will get stuck in the
comments list.
It seems to me that since PHP 5.0.0 is now out, it's time to just
accept PHP 5 packages into PEAR without having to justiy your usage of
the current *stable* version of PHP. I know it's not quite production
ready yet, but I feel that unless people actually start writing PHP 5
packages PEAR is going to get stuck using PHP 4 for a good long time
from now, due to the rules on BC breaks.
And just to get back on topic, please don't add any more comments to
Services_Google asking for PHP 4 versions, I have no intention of
writing one. If you are using PHP 4, you havn't lost anything, because
the package never existed for PHP 4, if you've got 5, lucky you, you
can do Google searches.
