Hi, I've been hard at work designing a php5-based channel server, and now have a working server up and running. It requires that you have the latest PEAR CVS installed, which can be easily done via:
Hi Greg, That's very good news ! Could you please provide a tarball as well so we can just download the code ? I don't have PHP5 running on my powerbook yet and I would just like to browse the sources. Thank you, Bertrand
Hi Bertrand, First of all, you don't need php5 to download the source, as $ pear install --nodeps PEAR_Server-0.3.0 will download and install. However, I can understand not wanting to fish through the data, doc and tests dirs to see what is there (currently, there is very little in the way of documentation since we're at devel state). Note that normally I wouldn't do any kind of release at this stage, but I would like to hear feedback before going any further with this. I do not plan to propose this as a standard PEAR package unless the demand is overwhelming, since it can easily be hosted on the new chiara channel. tarballs are available at: http://pear.chiaraquartet.net/get/PEAR_Server-0.3.0.tgz http://pear.chiaraquartet.net/get/PEAR_Server-0.3.0.tar and in fact this url is what the xmlrpc code returns when you do "pear install PEAR_Server-devel" using the package.getDownloadURL xml-rpc function. Not that you wanted to know that, but this is exciting for me :). If you're just using tar -xvf, then it will decompress just fine. To install, you still have to update the chiara channel.xml file, and that doesn't require php5. Greg
