Hello Teemu Näppi, I like the idea of this package. What do you think about creating two packages: one for the communication via the serial port and this PHP/GSM stuff which can use the services of the serial-port-package. At some time we'll surely have a package for serial communication and it wouldn't be good to have that package and your one with its internal functions to communicate with the port. So if you can find the time to split it into two packages, we'd have more benefit from it. Let's see if you have the time for that :) I don't really see which category this package should reside in, the com-part should be fine in System. I like System_Serial and Services_GSM. Thanks for contributing. Regards, Norbert Teemu Näppi wrote:
Hello, I've been writing this PHP-program as a student work. The code acts as an interface between a GSM-device such as a GSM-phone or a -modem and another PHP-program. The code works on Windows and Linux and with any kind of a GSM-device as long as it is connected to a serial port on the computer running the code. The serial port need not be a real port, also adapters (such as USB to Bluetooth -adapters which emulate a serial port) work and the interface could in theory be used to access regular modems. I was planning to propose this interface on PEAR but I can't find a suitable category for it. The code might also require a better name than what I've been using for it during the development. The interface is currently called VirtualPhone, but I feel that might be misleading as there is not really anything "virtual" about it. Would you check out the files (.phps and a PEAR-package file) as http://batman.jypoly.fi/~c1146/package/ and let me know what you think?
