Hi Richard York! The text replacement stuff can be handled by the text processing packages in PEAR (e.g. BBCodeParser, Wiki,...).i.e. convert dashed lines to horizontal rules, parse and replace forum code (via HTML_BBCodeParser of course). grayed out text below the double dash '-- '.* Regex to find and replace CIDs with file paths for multipart/related messages * Replacement of mailto: links in Plain text/HTML message, so that one could install a click link to their own message composer app.
An API to plug these in would be nice.As far as that, I'd like to take that on but I'm too busy at the moment to put together this/these package(s) myself. If no one else wants to do it I can get to it next month sometime. I can look at what PEAR and Horde already have and make/port new packages as necessary and then do one for mail that houses all of it under one API. Since all of the required pieces already exist, it shouldn't take much effort. At present however, I'm under a tight deadline to finish up a CSS book. But my next project might be a PEAR book, which incidentally would focus on webmail and would give me more time for such things. So if anyone decides to take this one, drop me a line so we're not duplicating efforts. Speaking of BBCodeParser, there hasn't been any development on that for a while and I'm afraid it won't be up to the task. (Maybe an issue for PEAR-QA?) For instance, it doesn't support quoted attributes very well, if at all. IIRC it chokes on quoted attributes. I did my own hacked version of it a month or so ago to support different BBCode dialects and put in more reliance on CSS, but haven't yet figured out the quoting algorithm. I'm not fantastic with regexs anyway or I might take on an update of that as well. I did try contacting the lead on that package some time back, but he never responded. -- Richard York ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [richy[<@>]smilingsouls[<@>]net] :: [http://www.smilingsouls.net] [http://pear.php.net/Mail_IMAP] A PHP/C-Client/PEAR solution for webmail
