But this wasn't a bug report, nor a feature request. I just submitted a
patch following the guidelines in the manual - [Patch] in the subject, cvs
diff and so on.

Anyway, if you confirm that posting a bug is the right thing to do, I might
as well do it and paste the contents of the patch (.diff file) there.
