I didn't have to issue die() or exit(). Apache 'segfaulted' right after the
script terminated (the output of the script that was sent to the browser
seemed ok for the human eye, but IE complained about "unclosed string" or
something ("Nicht-abgeschlossene Zeichenkette" in german).
