I was recently on the train and needed a version of crypt_rc4. so i used the one from CVS only to find it is now php5 only. looking at the source it seems this work will become the next major version of crypt_rc4. so it seems that no BC break was intended. however i would suggest to develop the new major version in a new cvs folder according new name (which would be Crypt_RC4v2 .. yeah i know its ugly :-( ... note that the RC is supposed to be all capitals since its an acronym however the v is supposed to be lower case )
First, the 'original' php4 code is saved under the brance php4, which would allow me to fix previous version of Crypt_RC4. Changing the development to a new directory doesn't seem logic to me. PHP5 was developed in the same 'module' as PHP4, both in php. By using the correct branch you have php 4 or 5. Moving files to another directory would aslo mean lost of the version history. This could be prevented if an cvs administrator moves the files physical on the cvs server, but in mine book that's called hacking. Due serious lack of time at the moment, i'm unable to finisch the new release or test the fixes for the current php4 branch. I hope that in january i can find more time. Half jauary i have my 2 mcp exams and after that i should have some more time. And before i forget, merry christman and a happy new year to the list! Regards, Dave Mertens
