Hi all,
I was hoping to get PEAR 1.4.0 out before anyone actually needed to do what
DB_DataObject 1.7.3 needs to do, but alas...
The "not" dependency is intended to completely exclude a package, and is
implemented as <conflicts/> in package.xml 2.0
An oversight by the first designers of package.xml did not include the "ne"
dependency, which is what is needed in order to implement excluding a
particular package version.
I have absolutely no capability to do a release of PEAR 1.3.4 right now, but I
will add "ne" to the list of deps and make sure the packager doesn't do stupid
crap like allow an invalid package to be packaged.
Until then, I would suggest to Alan that he pull 1.7.3 and call it a new year's
present when the release is possible :).
Greg
P.S. I've opened http://pear.php.net/bugs/3026 for
this issue
