I wrote in comment to your proposal:
bertrand Gugger (http://pear.php.net/user/toggg) has commented on the proposal for PHP::Lexer. Comment: A grammar/BNF simple interpreter is great. Code is quite rough and suppose the grammar respects some simple rules (not cyclic ?) I'm also afraid if people like to have some '/' in patterns. What if some regexp constructs:'(?{', '(?=...', '?!...', '(?<=...', '?<!...', '(?>...', '(?(...', '(?#...', '(?R)' and obviously '(?:' in general '(?...' and sure closing ')' with them not '\)' ? Could also some construct as: 'bl((a)|(o))h' be a problem ?
