Interesting, I never actually stopped to think about the closing tag. I
guess it is true that it is not needed, but I have a bad feeling about not
putting them in there.
Maybe they are optional now but could be required in a later version of
PHP ? I can't think of any other reason (someone else might be able to
pitch in here) but I still don't feel good about it.
And no, I don't think this was ever discussed on pear-dev.
