actually this reminds me that I always wondered if we shouldnt require atleast a dep on pear and php in every package?
package.xml 2.0 requires a pearinstaller and a php dependency. pearinstaller is different from PEAR, as a PEAR package dependency should only be used for packages that actually use PEAR code (which is to say any that have require_once 'PEAR.php' - not all packages do, however) Greg
