hmm seems like xdebug2 is the problem i will leave xdebug2 unloaded for a bit and see if i get the pear installer to crash .. btw my latest tests are done with a patch RC2 version with a fix reverted that broke copy() .. however like i said its probably xdebug2
Nice sleuthing, I'm sure Derick will have ideas on how to isolate the problem if you ask him :) Greg
