cache interfaces

Would the developers of the caching packages (Cache and Cache_Lite) be interested in creating a cache interface (once they go php5-only)? I think this could be quite useful in some situations. For example, right now I'm suggesting that James might want to allow people to pass in a cache_lite object to services_technorati, rather than doing all the cache configuration within services_technorati. In the future, having an interface for the basic cache operations would allow the various caching packages to be used interchangeably in this situation.
