PEAR's PEAR_Command was borking for me when I tried to install anything with some complaint about an invalid class that couldn't be included:
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: pear_command_auth-init in /usr/share/php/PEAR/Command.php on line 271
I've posted a fix for this problem here:
http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=4740
This should be patched and fixed ASAP as I couldn't install packages with this bug in place.
