thanks for the SPAM, is it a Christmas gift to all of us ? :(
I did'nt think that was spam. I don't want to say Metabase is better than AdoDB is better than PEAR::DB, I can't do that, because I use none of them, but from what I have heard from colleguages, Metabase is exactly the onle true database abstraction layer. If most of the developers only see their own thing, and not, what is best for the users, php will never be as strong as perl. No, I have not the time to adapt Metabase to PEAR, I don't want that discussion on which db abstraction is better again. But I want a discussion on what is best for the users. We have that same problem on php-doc sometimes. Some people want to apply good things to the php-manual, some others don't want this an even want to remove the patches if the people do so. See http://news.php.net/article.php?group=php.doc&article=969340348 for example. What if someon would check in a PEARized version of Metabase? Would the original developers of PEAR::DB remove this? I don't hope so! Sorry for my bad english. Regards, Sebastian
