Dear PEAR devs,
We need some testing on 1.3.6 before it is released. We are planning to
release it this afternoon (1700 CET). Currently, it is running on our
test platforms, but we need confirmation that it runs everywhere (4.3+,
5+) both with and without the xmlrpc extension enabled.
Here's a link to the package file:
You can install directly using the following command:
- pear upgrade -f http://pear.php.net/~pierre/PEAR-1.3.6.tgz
Don't forget to upgrade XML_RPC to 1.4.0 first, though, as the -f option
overrides deps.
To enable the xmlrpc extension (so you can disable it easily), build
using --with-xmlrpc=shared and then you can comment it out in your
php.ini (some have reported that it needs to be disabled in
/etc/php.d/xmlrpc.ini instead)
Don't try downgrading from 1.4.0. If you do, you might get bitten by the
registry changes. It shouldn't do that, but sometimes it does. Greg says
all you /should/ need to do is delete all
/path/to/pear/PEAR/commands/*-init.php files.
There are some issues that we are aware of. For instance, some packages
are broken in php5 because character encoding is handled differently in
php4 vs. php5 (php4 assumes iso-8859-? by default, while php5 doesn't).
A major problem being that utf-8 encoding for xml is broken in earlier
php versions (and we're trying to be inclusive).
So, get out and test. Post results to the pear-qa list. :)
Thanks a lot,
Klaus
