Consider this as my gift for 2006

Hello all, A bit of history first. At the beginning of PEAR (2002), we should build by hand the package.xml file for our packages. Then Greg Beaver wrote PEAR_PackageFileManager [1] (v0.1 on 2003-07-22) designed to create and manipulate package.xml version 1.0. It was already a little revolution. One day (2005-03-15), Scott Mattocks open a new proposal [2] what was accepted in April. It's a PHP-GTK 1 frontend for the PEAR_PackageFileManager class (>= 1.5.0). Recently, PEAR 1.4.0 (2005-09-18) came stable on our platforms. It was a great revolution and introduced a new way for distributing application development. In same time, Greg introduced PEAR_PackageFileManager2, designed to create and manipulate package.xml version 2.0, and also export compatible version 1.0 While PEAR_PackageFileManager2 1.6.0 is still in alpha stage, we can only hope in next days or months it will become stable. While i regreted (see my comment) [3] that GTK was the only target for PEAR_PackageFileManager_GUI_Gtk package [2], i don't let down hope to see a new frontend for PEAR_PackageFileManager class. Now, it's almost a reality. Begun in March 2005, then sleeping for months, i've took again an active part on this project since last christmas. But please, consider this [4] only as a gift as an haPHPy new year 2006, until i open officialy the proposal. I've begun to help Greg to make PEAR_PackageFileManager2 better and stable as soon as possible. Required if one day "PEAR_PackageFileManager_GUI_Web" become itself a new step of PEAR evolution.
